Flourishing
Is Mutual
My thesis aims to close the gap between artist renditions of the natural world and their materiality, by exploring themes of ecologies in ceramic and illustrative form. I chose clay as my material because clay is very versatile, and was the original medium for storytelling. Nature is quiet and subtle, yet fierce and lush, and connects us all in a way of wilderness. The story I am trying to tell highlights these juxtapositions within nature. Throughout the pieces I have chosen a variety of techniques to encapsulate the feeling you might have when being in a natural space, while also capturing the organic beauty and aesthetic of the natural world.
